Stephanie Maxwell is the award-winning anchor of Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak, Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News Midday in Charlotte. She joined the news team in January 2015. She has most recently worked in Jackson, Mississippi. She’s also worked in Greenville, South Carolina; Greenville/New Bern, North Carolina; Greenville, Mississippi; and Augusta, Georgia.
While in Jackson, the Mississippi Associated Press named her Best News Anchor in 2014. She also anchored the newscasts that won the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Regional award in 2011, Mississippi Associated Press Best Newscast in 2011 and 2012, and Southeast EMMY for Best Newscast in 2012 and 2013. Stephanie received Southeast EMMY nominations for Best News Anchor in 2007, 2010 and 2013. In 2012, she was named one of the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 business leaders.
Stephanie considers herself a Georgia Peach and a Tar Heel. She grew up in Atlanta and is a VERY PROUD graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Stephanie is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists, and UNC Rams Club. She’s also a lifetime member of the UNC General Alumni Association and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
